Staff Report, "Damaged Sufi saint’s shrine drawing devotees" - Gulf Times - Doha, Qatar
Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Undaunted by the bomb attack on the mausoleum of Sufi saint and Pakistan’s beloved Pashto poet Abdur Rahman Baba, thousands of devotees daily visit the shrine and even put themselves at risk by going inside the damaged building.
Besides deploying a policeman, authorities have placed barbed wires at the shrine entrance, located around three kilometres from the city on Ring Road near Hazarkhwani, to keep the visitors away from the tomb.
However, these measures could not work as thousands of devotees from far-flung areas continue to cast a glance at the devastated building with brimming eyes.
Last Thursday five bombs went off simultaneously at the shrine.
