Islamabad: Acting Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi Tuesday strongly criticized the setting up of special cells by the United States and United Kingdom at their respective airports for scrutiny of Pakistanis as the reciprocation of same love is inevitable to strengthen the bilateral ties.
“Such attitudes would never promote good ties between two countries rather it would create estrangement. I condemn this, if it is true, as has been reported in media,” said Acting Speaker while addressing a seminar on “Eradication of terrorism in light of Sufi thought” organized by Muslim Anti-Extremism Movement, civil society organization here.
He said both the US and UK governments should not treat and dub every Pakistani as terrorist as it would prove counter-productive for bilateral ties.“Pakistani citizens have nothing to do with terrorism. They carry pens, not guns; they have bags, not suicide jackets. They should reciprocate respect for Pakistani citizens,” Kundi remarked.
He said the same super powers supported mujahideen in Afghan War against Russia and left them in lurch after their objectives were fulfilled.
“The superpowers must also know that who is providing arms and finances to the militants disrupting peace situation in Pakistan,” he said and added that tribal people had played effective role in creation of Pakistan and the government has due respect for them. He reiterated that the government is committed with its stance that there can be no dialogue with militants challenging the writ of the government and they would be dealt with iron hands.
So far as the sentencing of arrested militants is concerned, he said the courts are functioning independently and they would decide their cases according to the law of the land.
Kundi said the nation would shortly hear the good news of constitutional package that would be tabled in the National Assembly and hoped that the Parliament would pass it unanimously.
Deputy Speaker said that it were Sufis, not mujahideen who spread Islam in Sub-Continent, India, Malaysia, Bengal, Assam and Nepal, adding Sufis never used violence for propagating Islam and its message rather they practiced love and brotherhood.
He said the people belonging to Sufi circle are duty-bound to come forward to support Islam as Sufi leaders like Shah Abdul Qadir Jillani, Baba Ganj Shakar and Imam Ghazali etc. did in the past to eliminate extremism and terrorism from the society and preached love and respect to humanity and human rights.
Sahibzada Pir Riaz-ul Hassan Qadri said Islam never allows subversion, extremism and terrorism and those commit such acts have nothing to do with religion. He said Pakistan, created in name of Islam, was supposed to be the center of peace and brotherhood but unfortunately, terrorists are trying to establish their rule in the country.
US Political counselor in Pakistani Brian D Hunt said it is high time the people should stand committed against the elements using violence to fulfill their nefarious designs.
He mentioned to the historic incident of Karbala, saying that history tells that those fight for peace and religion always remain alive in people’s heart like Imam Hussain and contrary to that Yazid is strongly hated despite the passage of several centuries.
