Fatehgarh Sahib: The three-day annual Rouza Sharif Urs will begin tomorrow at the tomb of Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmad Farooqui in Sirhind, considered to be one of the holy places of Islam.
Muslims from various parts of the country come to attend the Urs, which will be held from January 31 to February 2.
Observed every year in 'Safer' month of Muslim calendar, the Urs provides an opportunity not only to Muslims but also to Hindus and Sikhs to pay obeisance to the saint and also enjoy the fair organised on the occasion and purchase handicrafts.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for conducting the fair in front of Baba Moti Ram Memorial Trust building near Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Gurudwara.
Rouza Sharif is situated on the Fatehgarh Sahib-Bassi Pathana road and the shrine, built in 1929, is in the vicinity of the Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara.
Sheikh Ahmad was the most eminent of Khwaja Baqi Billah's disciples. Around 1599, he left Sirhind on a pilgrimage and reached Delhi where he was welcomed by Khwaja Billah.
