A bomb blast has killed at least two people and injured at least dozens of bystanders in Pakistan's second largest city of Lahore, officials say.
The bomb was originally thought to have been thrown from a passing-by vehicle late Thursday, but police forces found it was strategically placed near the entrance gate to a Muslim shrine.
"It was a remote-controlled bomb which was planted near the main gate of the shrine. Two people have died and about two dozen have been injured," said the local administration chief, Ahad Cheema.
Police experts said that the bomb blast was caused by a "firecracker," AFP reported.
Police have blocked off the area in the Badami Bagh neighborhood and are performing full investigations into the crime.
Last year, more than 40 people were killed and at least 120 wounded in an attack on another shrine in Lahore.
