The Committee of Ulemas has asked the nazim and the khadims of the dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz Chishti not to raise any issue which may hurt the feelings of any community. It also requested them to follow the teachings of the Sufi saint and maintain peace.
The committee, comprising maulanas from different parts of the country, said that the CD, which contains the controversial statement of nazim Ahmed Raza, is being examined. Raza has been accused of speaking against Islam and the Khwaja.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Sayeed Mohammad Jillani Ashraf, president of Sufi Federation of India, said, "We have not reached at any conclusion as the ulemas are still verifying the text of Raza's speech recorded on the CD. We have heard every group and will decide on it soon. We request people to keep calm as this is a very sensitive issue."
"We have to verify the objectionable part of the text regarding Islam or against Khwaja Garib Nawaz," said a maulana.
The objections of the khadims against the statement of the nazim have also been registered. Meanwhile, Raza has sent a written explanation to the committee. The committee also met different communities and talked to the district administration over the episode.
The committee consists of Ashraf, Prof Sayeed Shamimuddin Munami of Dargah of Munamiya of Bihar, Ammah Asif Mulana of Bareli, chief mufti Mualana Farooque Ahmed of Bareli, Maulana Allahuddin Ashrafi of Kota and Sayeed Aslam Vakim of Bareli.
A fortnight ago, a CD was released in market showing Raza speaking about Islam and the Khwaja. Anjuman, committee of khadims, alleged that Raza has stated objectionable things against Islam and the Khwaja. They protested and registered a case with the Dargah police.
The nazim was even beaten up by a few khadims in his office and had to be admitted to hospital. Police arrested three khadims for the assault.
The issue is hanging fire and the khadims are adamant on removing Raza from the post. They have even talked to the Prime Minister on the issue.
