Dakar, Senegal: The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) welcomed on Monday the instructions of the U.S. government to avoid from now on the use of terms associating Islam with terrorism.
The U.S. government has recently issued instructions to federal agencies, including the State Department, the National Centre for fight against terrorism and the Department of national security, not to use the terms "Jihadiste", "Islamic fascism" "Salafi" or "Sufi" in reference to Muslims.
This information, reported on April 24, 2008 by Associated Press (AP), was described by the OIC as a "positive development".
Islamophobia has been discussed at the 11th OIC summit held in Dakar on 13 and 14 March.
