Karachi: Provincial Minister for Culture and Tourism Sassui Palijo told the provincial assembly members that her department has reproduced the first literary work of the great Sufi poet Hazrat Sachal Sarmast which was written almost a century ago.
Replying to a member during the question hour she said that it was 'Mian Sachal Jo Risalo' that was first published in 1902.
It is an honor for the present government that it re-published the poetry on the 187th urs of Sachal Sarmast, last September at the cost of Rs 4, 30,000, she said.
The minister said that the department has also released popular songs of Sachal Sarmast sung by renowned singers on CDs in Urdu.
A committee comprising scholars and academics has also been constituted to conduct in-depth research on the life and work of Sachal Sarmast, she added.
