Turkish filmmaker Ceyda Aslı Kılıçkıran has said she is planning to travel to India to film a documentary that will highlight humanity and kindness, in a bid to prove her claims that “Sufism is the core of Hinduism.”
Kılıçkıran told the Anatolia news agency that “the concept of humanity that constitutes the core of Sufism, which emerged in Anatolia during the 13th century, is similar to that of Hinduism.”
The filmmaker said she has been interested in Hinduism since her childhood and that this has prompted her to create a documentary on the subject. She said she saw her upcoming documentary as “a gift to humanity.”
The documentary will be filmed in various Hindu temples.
Kılıçkıran aims to interview Hindu monks at monasteries in an effort to dig out their stories and what made them choose to lead simple lives, detached from worldly pursuits. The title of the documentary and the exact dates of filming have yet to be announced.
