Multan: The Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has affirmed Pakistan’s endeavors to maintain cordial and friendly ties with its neighbors, being the focal point of its foreign policy.
While addressing the participants of the Zakaria Conference, held at Bahauddin Zakaria University he stressed on seeking bilateral and mutual values and traditions that might bind the two neighbors in a lasting friendship.
"This would surely usher in economic prosperity " he assured, saying that elements had conspired to brand and prove Pakistan as a biased and narrow-minded community of fanatics.
Deploring the self-defeating acts of terrorism and destruction in Swat, he urged all to shun such acts and try to remove the stigmatized label of terrorism, since it stood to harm Pakistan only.
He said that even the West was seeking solace by researching Islam, and at this juncture Islamists should put their best foot forward to encourage Sufism, warning that the Country could ill-afford any war at this stage.
He advised the Hadassah reform seekers to learn from Sufi seminaries, which have refrained from fanning any kind of fanaticism, and had rather evolved the harmonious sentiments of brotherhood.
He said that if suicide bombers kept on proliferating in Pakistan, this would surely destroy the economic infrastructure of the Country, as no investor would risk investing here.
