LAHORE, Feb 7 (APP- Associated Press of Pakistan): Minister of State for Information Syed Sumsam Bukhari has said the promotion of Sufism is vital to eliminate extremism, terrorism and other ills from society.Addressing a ceremony here at Alhamra Hall on Sunday, he said Sufis had played an active role in spreading the message of love, brotherhood and humanity. He said Islam is a religion of peace and its main focus is to protect human rights and guide humanity to goodness.‘Sahab-e-Karam’ and ‘Ulema-e-Karam’ focused on promotion of teachings of the Qurran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) throughout their lives, he said.
Muslims should follow in their footsteps for success in this world and hereafter, he added.
Sumsam said suffering, humiliation and problems of Muslims in the world were as they had ignored Islamic values and moved away from the guidance of Sufia-e-Karam.
The minister also emphasised unity in the Ummah and a united stance on collective issues and against non-Muslims.
He also stressed fighting the cultural invasion of western values in Islamic society.
He recalled the golden era of Islamic history when Muslim society strictly followed teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) but when they started deviating from it, their development, progress and above all respect in the comity of nations was badly damaged.
Allah is ‘Rabbul Aalemeen’ and He made our Prophet Rehmatul-lil-Almeen,’ he said and questioned how followers of the Great Prophet (PBUH) could be terrorists if they were sincere with their religion?
