Galaxy of intellectuals, historians, writers attended Conference
Srinagar, September 29 (INF) –At a well attended and jampacked impressive conference held at SKICC Ist Sufi Muslim Saint of Kashmir Hazrat Bulbul Shah Sharief-ud-Din Abdul Rehman (R.A) was paid high tributes by galaxy of scholars and intellectuals through their research oriented papers. The Conference was mutually organized by CROKSY and Renzu Shah Society. It was first Conference of its kind held during recent years to highlight the role of the great saint who initiated Sufi movement in Kashmir.

The Minister for Tourism, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir inaugurated the Conference and promised that all necessary steps will be taken to protect heritage shrine of Great Bulbul Shah and revive its past glory. He said that time has come when new generation is required to be enlightened and educated about the great sacrifices made by these saints to evolve composite and secular culture of Kashmir. He said that works of Bulbul Shah who is known throughout Asia may be highlighted and published so that people are able to know about glory of their past. He said that transition from Bulbul Shah to Nund Reshi is our great historic era, Sufiana culture has established deep roots in our civilization and we are required to project the same.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Lone in his address to the august Conference said that all intellectuals should jointly work to inculcate the noble preaching of such great Sufi Saints to the masses, who have evolved the spirit of brotherhood and mutual love irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

In the inaugural event of the Conference, the Tourism Minister released CD on Bulbul Shah written by Khawaja Farooq Renzu. In his welcome address Mr. Renzu said that by highlighting the rich works of Bulbul Shah, world is able to understand the original civilization of this elysian Valley which is as rich as Mesopotamian and Greek civilization with respect of intellectual field. The Chairperson of the CROKSY, Dr. Sushila Bhan in her address said that whole sub-continent has started believing that the Kashmir is again becoming symbol of mutual brotherhood and love.

The renowned historian Mr. Fida Hussnain, Dr. Rafiqi, Dr. Ishaq, the intellectuals, Qazi Ghulam Rasool, Dr. Sushila Bhan, Margoob Banihali, Prof. G.R. Malik, Prof. Altaf Tak, Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Siraj-ud-Din, Shahid Budgami, Gulshan Majid, Ghulam Rasool Bhat spoke on the occasion.

All scholars were unanimous that Bulbul Shah was able to persuade the king of the time Rinchan Shah who was prince of Kashgar Ladakh, through his intellectual power to adopt Islamic way of life and the foundation of Sufiana composite culture was laid when Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists were co-existing in the atmosphere of love and brotherhood.

Mr. Margoob Banihali and Mr. Fida Hussnain while pointing out the historical books highlighted that Bulbul Shah converted the great king who was called lion among men Rinchana alongwith his wife and Ministers towards his way of life by way of intellectual interaction. The name of Rinchana which is also mentioned as Renzu Shah, or Ratanzu Shah or Rinchnu and opted name of Sultan Sadar-ud-Din who built first Muslim Khankah and first Jamia Masjid in Kashmir.

Mr. Malik, Dr. Ishaq, Shahid Budgami, Dr. Rafiqi in their research oriented speeches highlighted various historical components of the era when Bulbul Shah arrived this Valley. It was also revealed that time has come when works and life histories of those companions who arrived alongwith Bulbul Shah to Kashmir. Prominent among them were Bulbul Jalal-ud-Din, Bulbul Kamal-ud-Din and other noble companions who devoted their life around Harwan which was centre of Buddhism since centuries and other places of Uri, Chakoti and other places. Mr. Budgami mentioned and highlighted role of great Hindu scholars also who contributed for strengthening the concept of mutual brotherhood and creation of mutual composite culture of Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. He also said that history is witness of the fact that different school of thoughts have never conflicted with each other inspite of provocations, which indicates richness of our composite culture.
