Youmi Assad Mir observed in Hakura Budasgam
Srinagar, September 22 (INF) - To pay rich tributes to the Sufi poet Assad Ullah Mir of Hakura Budasgam, Anantnag Youmi Assad Mir was celebrated with full enthusiasm and gaiety at Budasgam yesterday. Assad Ullah Mir is popularly known as Assad Mir.
The function in this behalf was organized by Cultural Academy at Hakura Budasgam in Anantnag district. Thousands of people besides students of various educational institutions participated in the function. The famous singers of valley sung the songs of this Sufi poet which was highly acclaimed by the audience.
The Minister of State for works Mr. G.A. Mir was the chief guest on the occasion while Director Doordarshan, Mrs. Shahzadi Simon presided. Mr.Mir also inaugurated a park which was constructed by the R & B Department and dedicated to this famous poet.
Paying glowing tributes to Assad Mir Sahib, the Minister threw light on various aspects of the life and works of this famous Sufi poet.
He said Assad Mir Sahib was a visionary poet the Anantnag has produced besides Mehmood Gani and Rasul Mir Sahib. He said Assad Mir Sahib's "Kalam" particulary "Kthe Pholhomo Lo Gulabo Lo" is still in the hearts and minds of the Kashmiri people despite passing several decades.
