The new discovery of Indian music scene will jam with the lead vocalist of Pearl Jam.
In a very short time, Kailash Kher has reached considerable popularity because of his singing talent. From singing at railway stations, Kailash has come a long way to the state-of-the-art recording studios and to the cover of international music magazine ‘Rave’.
Now, Kailash is slated to perform with singer Eddie Vedder for a music concert that will be a tribute to the late qawwali singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan . Vedder and Ustad Nusrat had teamed together for the soundtrack of Tim Robbins’s 1995 movie ‘Dead Man Walking’.
August 16 happens to be the death anniversary of Ustad Nusrat.
Since Kailash is very skilled at singing sufi and hindi devotional songs, his participation at the concert makes sense because Ustad Nusrat was, and still is, an unparalleled exponent of Sufi qawwalis.
Just recently, Kailash sang a qawwali-based number ‘O Sikander’ in the Bollywood film Corporate .
Meanwhile, Kher’s private album ‘Kailasa’ has received a very positive response. The singer is said to be planning a sequel now.
As for Bollywood, Kher is presently singing for as many as four films.
