Museum celebrates cultural diversity

ISLAMABAD: History and culture reveal themselves as one steps inside the heritage museum located in the premises of the Lok Virsa, which is a spot frequented by many visitors, especially students, who come to witness the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan from all across the country.

According to museum officials, around 500 to 800 students visit the museum daily, which remains open throughout the week. Situated behind the Shakarparian Hill, the beautiful location of the museum attracts all kinds of people, regardless of whether they are cultural enthusiasts or not.

Inaugurated in August 2004, the ethnology museum is the first and largest of its kind. With a covered area of 60,000 square feet, the museum contains more than 25 large galleries, along with four blocks that display the cultures of various regions such as Iran, Central Asia and China. The museum also contains different exhibition halls for architecture, musical heritage, future vision, textiles, silk thread, ballads, romances, Sufism and shrines.

The hall of future vision has been dedicated to Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and other famous women of Pakistan.
