New York, NY: Link TV is proud to announce the Link TV premiere of Sound of the Soul, a vivid, multi-layered portrait of both of an open-minded Arab city and the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, an extraordinary annual world music event that invites Muslim, Christian and Jewish men and women to perform in public at the only gathering of its kind in the Arab world.
Sound of the Soul, featuring renowned musicians including Nass El Ghiwane, Anuna, Katia Guerreiro, and Farida Mahwash and the Kabul Ensemble, premieres Sunday, May 16 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT, followed by a live webcast and chat with director Stephen Olsson at 10:28 pm ET/7:28 pm PT.
Each year, during the first week of June, the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music brings together a unique array of musicians from around the world who use the transcendent power of music to point all hearts and minds towards the essential Oneness of all religions and faiths. In case you can't make it to North Africa for this year's festival happening from June 4th to June 12th, you can tune in to the acclaimed world music documentary Sound of the Soul to experience the energy and sublime performances of the festival. In its Link TV premiere, this award-winning film transports viewers on an exhilarating and thought-provoking cinematic journey, reverberating with unity, understanding, and most of all, hope. The film airs as part of Global Spirit, an “internal travel series" on Link TV hosted by author Phil Cousineau.

This critically-acclaimed, award-winning film which has delighted festival audiences from Tribeca to Jerusalem to Sarajevo to Tehran, examines Morocco, a sufi-influenced Arab country where Muslims, Christians and Jews have lived together in relative peace for centuries. Filmed during the Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, Sound of the Soul features unforgettable performances from groups from Morocco, Ireland, Russia, Afghanistan, the US, France and other countries.
Sound of the Soul explores what makes Fez a historic oasis of peace, in a world where differences of opinion, religion and culture have incited war and violence. Following the film, viewers hear from Jewish, Muslim and Christian expert guests, including Marla Kolman Antebi, Sarah Talcott, Kabir Helminski, a Muslim, Sufi teacher and musician, and organizers of Jewish and Christian inter-faith youth projects.
About the experts for Sound of the Soul
Kabir Helminski is a Sufi sheikh (teacher) and musician. He and his wife, Camille, founded the Threshold Society, and he has written and translated many books on Sufi wisdom and poetry. Kabir holds an MA in psychology and an (honorary) PhD in literature from Selcuk University in Turkey.
Marla Kolman Antebi is a Jewish educator and youth organizer. She founded the non-profit Partners in Peace, was invited to speak at the Parliament of the World's Religions in 2004, and serves as the Director of the Coastside Jewish Community Religious School.
Sarah Talcott is the Youth Programs Director for the United Religions Initiative, and she coordinates the URI's Global Youth Cooperation Circle. She has created and facilitated youth retreats, workshops and other projects in the US, UK, Cyprus, Spain, Brazil and Peru.
