At Least 80 Feared Dead in Rajasthan Road Mishap

Udaipur: As many as 80 people were feared dead and 40 injured on Friday night when a truck carrying them fell into a gorge while negotiating a sharp turn on the border area of Rajsamund-Pali districts, about 100 kms off Udaipur.

The Udaipur Collector said that the truck carried atleast 150 pilgrims who were going to visit the shrine of Sufi saint Baba Ram Dev near Jaisalmer in Pokhran.

The congregation is an annual affair at the shrine. As soon as the report of the accident spread, the Army swung into action. Injured were being rushed to a nearby hospital. Till the reports came in, the district administration was being helped by locals in the rescue work.
