Islamabad: The 17th death anniversary of leading Urdu and Punjabi poet of the Sub-Continent, writer, journalist, broadcaster and a prominent worker of Pakistan Movement will be observed today (Wednesday).
Various literary organisations will place floral wreaths and offer ‘Fateha’, on the grave of the deceased at Islamabad’s graveyard at H-8, near Zero Point.
Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan honoured him with the gold medal for his selfless and meritorious services rendered during the Pakistan Movement, in the fields of journalism, literature and social services.
He had more than 75 published books in the various disciplines of literature to his credit, including, poetry, prose and the major work of translating the poetic collection of Pashto Sufi poet Rehman Baba, Balochi poet Mast Tokali and Khalil Jibran poems into Punjabi, published by Pakistan Academy of Letters.
Altaf Parwaz’s Naat collection, ‘Noor-e-Hira’ has recently published.
