Security Watch India is organizing a conference called ‘The Challenge of Terrorism to India’s Infrastructure & Economy’, which is slated to take place on Dec 9 and Dec 10 in New Delhi. Security Watch India is committed towards harnessing the most-recent security technologies and the best practices of the world so that India’s assets have better security.
Despite the truth that it is the first anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai carnage, there is more which have not yet been examined, which calls for the reviewing of the security strategies, the best practices adopted across the world as well as the avante garde technologies so that national security can be enhanced. This is required especially for events like Commonwealth Games 2010 and for crowded public places.
Some of the prime issues which will be discussed at the conference include best security practices adopted by world for Aviation, ports as well as major events, handling CBRN threats, the counter terrorism mechanisms for State Police forces, creation of elite forces, the steps to be adopted for enhancing and integrating the intelligence resources as well as preparing the industry for crisis management and resilience.
The keynote address on Internal Security Situation of India at the conference will be delivered by the Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Gopal K Pillai. Some of the key speakers at the event include the Director General, Railway Protection Force, Mr. Ranjit Sinha, IPS, Col. Qoem John Carlos, Trindade Lopes, General Commander, Brazil,Leo Gleser, President ISDS- Israel, Maroof Raza, Analyst and Author, Brett Lovegrove, Head of Counter Terrorism – UK Police (Retd) as well as the Consulting Editor for The Hindustan Times, Vir Sanghvi.
While Aijaz Ilmi will be talking about ‘Countering Radical World views’, Sadia Dalvi will address ‘The Middle path- Sufism’ at the conference.
According to Mr. Harry Dhaul, Director General, Security Watch India, “The event seeks to unveil through the experience of national and others of international repute from USA, UK, Israel etc a new understanding and awareness of the security scenario”.
The alarmingly increasing threats have necessitated the urgent review of the security strategies in various domains by the stakeholders. Along with this, “The unfolding tenuous situation in the AF –Pak region will impact on our security. We need to closely monitor developments and trends and be prepared to deal with the worst case scenario”, says the former Secretary (Security) Govt. Of India and Senior Advisor, Security Watch India, Mr. S R Mehra, IPS, Retd.
The conference will also be providing live demonstrations of latest best practices of the world including UAV surveillance, explosive detection equipments as well as latest technologies adopted in personal security, to name a few.
